Other Violent Crimes
Being the victim of a violent crime can be a frightening and traumatic experience that often carries with it great physical, emotional or financial harm. Many victims are left with many questions about who they can turn to or trust and where the can go for help. You are not alone. The Iowa Attorney General’s Office has programs across the state of Iowa that are dedicated to working with victims of violent crimes and survivors of homicide.
Each program will work directly with the victim of a violent crime to put them at ease. Some of these crimes could include, but are not limited to, attempted murder, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, and assault. Programs will provide care throughout the whole criminal justice process, acting as a voice for victims. Programs will work together with victims making sure they are involved and informed, allowing a large impact on how things transpire. You may have felt helpless prior to and during the incident, but you are not now.
For more information on how one of Iowa’s programs may be able to help you, call the Iowa Victim Service Call Center at 1.800.770.1650 or text IOWAHELP to 20121. Advocates are available to talk 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All calls are completely free & confidential.
